Battle of the Coqs: Eric Greenspan v. Ludo Lefebvre at The Foundry on Melrose

Anyone who wonders about the power of Twitter needs only to trace the roots of how this night came about.

- Ludo visits The Foundry last week, tweeting that Chef Eric Greenspan wasn't around and that "maybe" he should take over the kitchen.
- Eric responds by tweeting him to join him in the kitchen on Tuesday for Bluesy Tuesday at the Foundry for fried chicken night.
- Eric tweets out an APB for more deep fryers, with Akasha Richmond of Akasha Restaurant tweeting in for the rescue.

And as a result, diners had a chance to enjoy fried chicken prepared two ways a la Chef Ludo and Chef Eric.

Small Plating My Way Through Los Angeles

I'm way too distracted these days to write something meaningful, so instead I'll just present you with some of my favorite small plates of the moment around the city.

A survey – Lobster Bisque at Checkers Downtown in Los Angeles (Phototasting)

It's hard for me to believe, but I've managed to keep this blog up for over four months. I'm pleasantly surprised because my attention span usually maxes out at 20 minutes, so this blog should have died back in...October. What keeps me going is not so much the writing, but the pictures. Between the two activities, I'd rather spend my time developing my foodtography skills than my writing skills. Ironic, since I started this blog to improve my writing, but that's another post for another day.

Church & State – Lunch

Apparently it doesn't matter what day or time we show up. It doesn't matter if you tempt me with this wonderful view throughout the meal.

Cube Café, Cheese Bar and Marketplace

With all the dining options, both new and old, all over LA, there is very little need to go back to the same place. But there is one spot that I intend to go back to on a regular basis and that is Cube.

Josef Centeno’s Infamous Bäco at Lazy Ox Canteen

The plan this particular evening was to grab an early dinner at Magnolia and then head over to the Lakers/Clippers game, but due to traffic and other logistical challenges, the group moved dinner to post game. Things worked out, because when I arrived at my choice for dinner, Lazy Ox Canteen, I saw this:

Campanile Restaurant – Mark Peel’s Masterpiece

Campanile is doing something right when they manage to stay in business 20 years in a city that is constantly chasing the biggest hits, fads, and trends.

Rivera Restaurant – Downtown Revitalized

It only seems appropriate that the last post of the year focuses on Rivera Restaurant. Rivera Restaurant is one of the cornerstones in the revitalization of fine dining in Downtown LA that started at the beginning of 2009.

Sunday Supper at Church and State

Church and State has received endless praise since Walter Manzke's start and rightly so, the food is good. And that is the saving grace for this bistro.

Grace Restaurant

"Who actually reads foodblogs" posited Sinosoul during a recent dinner at Shufeng Garden.

Assuming there is some truth in that statement (I believe it), then people really only come for the pictures. I'm cool with that.

I share with you Grace Restaurant's Tasting Menu, sans commentary.
